When America sneezes, Laos catches a cold!
When Laotians in America are out of jobs,
Laotians in Laos are out of money!

What a recession in America!  According to the U.S. Labor Dept., an unemployment rate climbed to 6% in November 2002.  That is about 8.5 million Americans who are out of jobs.  Big and small companies around the country have shedded many jobs.  For example in New England more

Therefore, the government has to filter & choose only websites that are mostly appropriate for Lao people."  more

Four different types of government exist in the world today
They are:
+ Absolute Monarchy, i.e. Saudi Arabia, Brunei...
+ Constitutional Monarchy, i.e. Great Britian, Japan, Thailand...
+ Democratic Republic, i.e. United States, Russia, Australia, Italy, Poland...
+ Totalitarian Government, i.e. Laos, China, Cuba, Iraq, North Korea, Vietnam
For more info which is quite amusing, please check out this site . For now, bye bye, farewell, so long, adios and lakon.

"Researching and Critiquing Internet Resources" - Laos
Once a lifetime someone wrote a story about our website.  This one was from a lady who wrote "Researching and Critiquing Internet Resources" and she used VientianeTimes.com for her case study.  Here is what she has to say about our website:

The Webmaster has his own personal agenda, which is obvious through most of the pages, but what I liked were the links to almost anything one could possibly want on Laos... The picture of the Lao statues is there to give you the feeling of a fight for democracy that the Webmaster is trying to sell to his viewers. The title at the top of the main page announces that this site is "The Gateway to Democracy"! The colors are subtle and the site on the whole is designed in a pretty sober and simple way.  more

Laos Picture Gallery
I have not finished the story, "How many different types of governments in the world?"  For the time being, enjoy these wonderful pictures of Laos through the eyes of Warren den Engelsman.
He has about 150 pictures on his website.  Enjoy, my comrades.   For now, adios.

"The Road of Life": Three ways for Lao girls
I could not finish the story.  Too much party!  Anyway, I wrote it, but lack of punch; so I just discarded it.  Here is my theme that I tried to write.  There are 3 types of girls in Laos.  1st, wait for Lao-oversea boys; 2nd, work in factory; and 3rd, work at a nightclub as a waitress or hooker.
That's it!  By the way, school starts today.  Very busy with changing courses.

Laos: Thirty years of Revolution,
Twenty seven years of Corruption
Dad and company drew up plans on how to attack the U.S.-Lao Royal Forces in Xiengkhuang province in the 1970s.  Here is our story.  Quite long though.  Enjoy my comrades.  Webmaster of VientianeTimes.com

Music clip from Laos...
Well, well, well, my comrades... Finally I can listen to a clip from Lao FM 103.7 Radio Viengchanh, Laos.
Since I left our lovely Laos in 1999 for America to continue my education, I'm nostalgic when listening to this recorded clip -- music, advertizing and voice. If anyone wants to listen, please go to muanglao.com.
For now, enjoy my comrades...

The battle rages:
VientianeTimes.com vs. Lao Government
The only thing the Lao Embassy wants us to do is to remove the Lao insignia.  That insignia on our website disturbs their big leaders in Vientiane, especially Mr. Khamtay Siphandone. If we don't, the Lao Govt will take us to court and we won't be able to go back to Laos. more
