This whole week I have final exams. I'll try my best to keep updating this site.  For now, enjoy reading stories from Hmong Voice and viewing a video clip below.

Bye bye, so long, farewell, adios and lakon......See ya!

LAOS, ANOTHER PROVINCE OF VIETNAM (Hmong Voice)

Instead of Laos to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its victory, Vietnam shows its bossy and control over Laos.

The fact is very clear. Source from the Interior Ministry in Laos reportedly said that the Laotian Government and its National Assembly have to bite the bullet and shut down Christian Evangelical churches throughout the country because Laos was forced by Vietnam, its boss. Continue

I thought I will write a story about Kaysone Monument, then I got this email from one of our loyal readers.  Enjoy reading it, my comrades.

Laos - 25 years of poverty, oppression, and corruption

Kaysone Monument??? What a joke! They should celebrate his death, not his birth! I never heard of this so-called "great leader" Kaysone Phomvihane. I thought he was "Keo" not Lao.

You communist barbarians should build the memorial monument more

25th Anniversary of Lao PDR

Here is a Lao communist motto:
Peace, Independence, Democracy, Unity and Prosperity

PEACE ===> Not quite. Still have fightings in the north and the south, and bombs exploding in Vientiane at least once a month.

INDEPENDENCE ===> No way, for two centuries. For now Laos has been colonized by Vietnam since 1975.  Will be a Keo Hua Kord slave for a long haul.

DEMOCRACY ===> No democracy in Laos.  Law is under the point of a gun.  If you talk, you either get killed or put in jail.

UNITY ===> No unity in Laos. Half a million Laotians live in the U.S., France, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Argentina and other places because they hate communists.

PROSPERITY ===> Since 1975, Laos is one of those ten poorest nations on earth, according to the UN datasheets.  While Lao govt officials drive 4x4 Land Cruiser, Lao peasants walk to work.  If these peasants have motorcycles to ride, it is because they have relatives in 3rd countries sending them money.

Thank you for dropping by!

Today is an anniversary since our Lao govt cracked down on the Lao Student Movement for Democracy on Oct. 26, 1999.  May I have your 30 precious seconds of silence to pay a respect to our fallen comrades who are still jailed in Vientiane for advocating the freedom of speech, press, assembly and religion.

Long Live Democracy!

Here is Lao Aviation's crash history from 1990s to today

===> June 2000--A Russian-built Mi-8 helicopter crashed in Xieng Khuang due to bad weather. All 18 people killed.

===> May 1998--A Russian-built Yak-40 jet crashed in Xieng Khuang during a heavy rainstorm. All 26 people killed, including Vietnamese military delegation.

===> December 1993--A Chinese-built Y-12 aircraft crashed in Phone Savanh when it clipped trees in fog when tried to land. All 18 people killed.

No bombs, no news, no visitors!

Well, my readers, I am talking about correlations between the bombings in Laos and visitors who come to this website. Look at the statistics, in July, the numbers of visitors went up to 83,000 because more bombs exploded in the capital. At present time, the numbers of visitors drop down to 70,000 due to no explosion. Whether speculating or not, a good news in Laos is a bad news for this website, or vice versa. No bombs, no visitors! No pains, no gains!

Note: Neither this website nor the webmaster condones any activities through violence. And no rebuttal emails, please!

Today is my first day of school.  Again, busy as usual. Here is my school, Southern Connecticut State University , if any readers care about it. For this semester, my computer courses include Computer Programming II and Assembly Language, plus three other core courses.

Webmaster,

According to your sister it is not true that the bomb killed one person at Post Office....... I also asked someone in my office to investigate and according to my friend working with me (at the time of explosion she was at the parcel collection service point 13), nobody was dead, only injured 5 people, but not seriously. It was TNT, not a hand bomb (according to my own experiences, as I used to work with the UXO LAO programme "unexploded ordnance programme" - that was doing the clearance of unexploded bomb around the country).

A fire was in front of French school, not Dokmaideng hotel, next to "Muang Lao Magazine" office.... the fire started because one restaurant cooked the grilled pork near the wooden wall without anybody there......and then the gas exploded.

Regards,

UNDP Webmaster.

Call home today to check on mom.  It is quite disturbing according to her.  Scary to live in Vientiane now, bomb here, bomb there.  One day your limb might be gone, who knows?  After bombing at the main post office in Vientiane (one death according to my sister), there was a big fire on Wednesday, August 2, on the 3-stories building on Lanxang Ave next to Vieng-rathry nightclub, opposite the Royal Dokmaideng hotel.  No casualty though, but destroyed that building, also according to my sister.

Well, they can plant bombs anywhere in Vientiane, but please, not around watch shops at Morning market, ok? . . .I am begging.  I need mom to support me while I am in school.

Lao Monarchy was already over (Hmong Voice)

Wish to bring back a system of Monarchy to Laos maybe just only a dream. The Laotian royal family is unlike others. The Laotian royal family is one of the most conflicting family. Members of the royal family have been fighting each other for centuries. Because of this royal family, Laos has gone nowhere but down and susceptible to foreign occupation and domination. They are the ones who brought foreign power and foreign troops into Laos. They have done that time and again generation after generation. For example they brought Communism and Vietnamese troops into Laos. Laos is under Communist Vietnamese control . . . more

Vientiane's political trouble (Hmong Voice)

Laotian government seems to be fearful of Hmong insurgents. Lao Prime Minister Sisawat Keobounphanh officially issues an attention to the international community saying that Hmongs are a great danger to his country. Since the bomb blast in Vientiane has weakened the Laotian government credibility, the Laotian government threw all the blames on Hmongs. But when a crazy unidentified person who claimed to be a Hmong and claimed responsible for the bomb attack in Laos, the Laotian government quickly responded and said Laos is under control. Yet it is ridiculous and shameful because bombing still continue . . . more

Laos has been a Vietnamese colony, period

Has anybody read that Lao state radio alleged that Thailand tried to colonize Laos on the July 3 fighting between Lao govt troops and Lao insurgents.  Oh, please the poor directors and announcers of Lao radio.  Why don't you say Laos has been colonized by Vietnam since 1975.  Say that very loudly. Put it on Lao TV and tell Lao people......Laos has been a Vietnamese colony for 25 years and will be for a long haul.

I incorporated the translation feature here so some readers can read this website and linked pages in their native languages.  These include French, German, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish.  One thing is certain its translation won't be 100% satisfied because it is software emulated, not human beings, but at least it gets the work done and it is free too.

Enjoy!

Responding to Sean Miguel Esagtawski’s letter to the editor of The Nation on July 11, 2000.
